Is where I am. You should go somewhere equally beautiful and/or cliched.
Hey everyone, you should go the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Do it. Right now. You still have the rest of August to get here. I’ll wait for you.
If you don’t mind large groups of tourists and non-stop flyering and being pitched shows that sound worse than crap, then this is the place to be!
I have seen about 10 shows so far, and have reviewed them in my notebook (I use a 6 star method). I will put up the reviews later. The last show I saw was a 2 1/2 hour amatuer drama production. It was a thriller about a family who fined their long lost daughter, but she can’t remember anything from the last 6 years! Also, it was set in 1904, and uses only one set dressing, and 5 actors. It was held in a little church hall. For these reasons I will not review the show, as I feel it would be unfair to compare it to the professional shows I have seen. Because it wasn’t very good.
In summation: come to Edinburgh. Now.
So I am in Edinburgh right now, then heading off to France for a bit. During whcih time I have no stable internet connection. So this place isn’t going to be updated very often, if at all.
However, if you go to www.coupdemainmagazine.com I will eventually start putting up travel blogs there, under Brendon in the Blog section.
Please don’t shake babies.
Because my friend posted this song in just its song format on his blog (THAT I CAN’T COMMENT ON AND THAT ANNOYS ME SOMEWHAT), I thought I had better post the music video of it.
The song is Two Weeks by Grizzly Bear and this is the Best Music Video I Have Seen This Year. It is the only video that has drawn me in and forced me to watch it in its entirety. It’s very transfixing. Watch it in HD and Full Screen in you can.
Damn you Ian Bell, damn you to heck.
Two eerily beatiful pieces of artwork from Geraldine Georges, she’s from Belgium! (Belgium is where Bruges is). And then an awesome stencil picture by Papermonster (I don’t think that’s their real name though).

Once again I am left to lament my lack of abitlity to control my hands in any functional way. They have a mind of their own I swear. I’m not even meaning to type this, it’s all them. ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY.
I have thought long and hard about this, too long and hard actually. But I am now confident that I have my definitive list of the BEST 3 POP SONGS of the last 5 years. This is non-negotiable, and I don’t think I can be convinced otherwise. I know this is controversial, and will send shockwaves around the internet, but it has to be said. The best 3 pop songs of the last 5 years are as follows:
- Dance Dance, Fall Out Boy
- Umbrella, Rihanna
- Untouched, The Veronicas
That’s my call and I stand by it. That’s in correct order as well, not tied for the best or any such nonsense. Those are, in order, the 3 best pop songs of the last 5 years.
Today I was slapped in the face, metaphorical style. I was under the illusion that I had been working at my current job for just under 2 years. I thought I was coming up to my 2 year anniversary soonish. How exciting right? 2 years in a job is quite a long time for a young buck like myself.
Turns out I was wrong. I have been at my job for just under 3 years. 3YEARS! I have literally lost a year of my life somewhere along the way. (I have an inkling 2007 has gone walkabouts, cheeky little bugger). I almost doubled over in shock when I found out that my contract was signed in 2006, not 2007. I am genuinely concerned that I have spent an entire year of what is apparently meant to be the ‘time of my life’ in a trance. Also, will people stop saying that we’re in the ‘time of our lives’, I’m depressed enough as it is. I will go full emo if pushed. (It will be like going Super Saiyan, except even more camp).
I am prone to the typical quarter-life crisis moments, just as any self respecting angsty 20-something should be, but this is truly disturbing. Yet another year of youth that I must reclaim sometime in the future.
Maybe I will pent it all up and have one doozy of a mid-life crisis.
I forced myself to get up earlier than usual in order to get stuff done. But now that I’m up, I can’t think of much stuff that I should be doing. I know there is heaps of things I have to do, but I’m too tired to think of what they are. Not sure if this is ironic, or just annoying.
New vow: don’t have things to do, therefore no need to get up early.
I’m pretty sure the 1st paragraph was poorly written and hard to understand. Or maybe it was just too scientific?
